WINE: The best iTunes for Linux resolution

April 15th, 2012 by iTunes Linux Leave a reply »

At the moment, there is nothing like iTunes for linux, at least not officially. However if you are an iPod user or you make use of any other device that runs iOS, then it might be your wish that one exists at the moment. But even if one exists, it will not improve the situation in any way. Why is there no iTunes for Linux answer? Apparently Apple creating a compatible solution will make a lot of sense but it is looking like something that is not practicable.

The number of iPods that exists is more than ninety million. Many people make use of these gadgets that run iOS by Apple, and a sizable portion of these individuals should have one or two devices that run Linux at home. If these people wish to sync their Linux systems to their iDevices, then they have to make use of iTunes. Sadly, Apple is yet to formally create any iTunes for Linux and it appears this is how things will remain for some time to come.

The reason they are yet to develop one is not yet clear. However, for some time now, there has been iTunes for both Windows and Mac, and Apple is yet to reveal any readiness to create an edition that will work with the Linux OS.

There has been a lot of speculation regarding why Apple will not develop iTunes for Linux. Some believe that Apple has refused to develop any iTunes for Linux edition because the company has no intention of recognizing the fact that Linux exists within the desktop computing business. The firm acknowledges that Windows is the clear leader as far as home computing business is concerned, thus they carry on supporting it, even though Windows is their greatest competitor. They make some profits from Windows users also. However Apple does not intend to treat Linux the same way, for one reason or the other. Some have suggested that Apple wants to make it impossible for Linux users to benefit from iOS device compatibility.

Most of the things Apple has done to stop iPods from synchronizing with Linux systems have constantly been foiled by developers who use some other means to enable it. These developers create other iTunes for Linux alternatives by developing other applications that can be downloaded from the internet free of charge.

All the iTunes-related difficulties as regards the Linux OS you have been experiencing can be taken care of by using WINE. Wine is actually an app that makes it possible for users to run a Windows program within the Linux OS. It is the best iTunes for Linux remedy for now.

Thanks for the kind and encouraging words Teju! Appreciation is always appreciated! Especially when you’re not in school and don’t have grades, which serve a kind of silly function sometimes, but still validate you in a strangely egotistical way (hope I’m not stepping on any toes here)…
